💡 Expert Order Guide: CRITICAL WARNING: Many English publishers labeled 'Blood of Elves' as Book 1—that is WRONG! You MUST read 'The Last Wish' (#1) and 'Sword of Destiny' (#2) first, or you will miss how Geralt met Yennefer and adopted Ciri!

Mutated monster hunter Geralt of Rivia travels the Continent with bard Dandelion, earning the title 'Butcher of Blaviken', binding his fate to sorceress Yennefer via a djinn's wish, and claiming Ciri through the Law of Surprise.

- The Last Wish: Introduces Geralt's code of 'the lesser evil' in Blaviken; at Queen Calanthe's banquet in Cintra, Geralt saves cursed knight Duny (who marries Princess Pavetta) and invokes the Law of Surprise—unknowingly claiming their unborn daughter, Cirilla (Ciri). In the final story, Geralt uses his last wish from a djinn to bind his destiny to the fiery sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg to save her life.
- Sword of Destiny: Explores Geralt and Yennefer's tumultuous romance, the golden dragon Villentretenmerth, and Geralt rescuing young Ciri in Brokilon Forest.
